What is pre-sorting?
Pre-sorting is choosing the right lane or position on the road in good time before you make a turn or cross an intersection. This provides clarity to fellow road users about your intentions.
When is it not allowed?
You may not pre-sort if you hinder oncoming traffic by doing so, or if you have to cross a solid line. Also, if there are signs mandating a specific direction, you must follow them.
Indicating in time
Always check your rearview mirror, side mirror, and over your shoulder (the blind spot) carefully before pre-sorting. Indicate your direction well in advance so everyone knows what you are going to do.
