Flashing light AND siren
Only if a vehicle has both a blue flashing light and a multi-tone siren is it an emergency vehicle. You must let this vehicle go first. Do they only have a flashing light on? Then they formally do not have priority, but it is polite to make room.
How do you make room?
Stay calm. Look where the vehicle is coming from and make room in a safe way. Continue driving until you find a safe place to pull over. Never stop suddenly in the middle of an intersection or in a blind corner.
What if you are at a red light?
If you are at the front of a red traffic light and an ambulance approaches, you cannot simply run the red light to make room. Try to steer a bit to the left or right in your own lane if safely possible.
