The distance between the cars

A theory question that has been a favorite with the CBR for years: what is the allowed distance between the towing and the towed vehicle? The answer is a maximum of 5 meters. Keep the cable tight while driving.

Rules during towing

You are not allowed to tow on the highway (unless you were already driving on the highway when you broke down, then you tow via the hard shoulder to the first exit). During towing, you may NOT use the hazard warning lights; indicating direction remains crucial for both cars.

Driver requirements

The person in the towed car must simply be in possession of a valid driver's license for that vehicle. The towed car is also required to have third-party liability insurance.
